Java Script error 2739 (Home Premium)

Hmm, HP requests that I download an update to their ‘Health Check’ software on my fairly new HP laptop dv6525ea. Can’t do because up comes the message ‘Could not access Javascript (run time error 2739). So does anyone know what this is or has had the same problem and fixed it! I had a look at MS Help but frankly did not understand it so any replies in non-heavy- technical language would be most welcome. (I have also put the problem to HP Support but as yet they haven’t come up with a solution.)

Try this:
– Select Start | All Programs | Accessories.
– Right click the Command icon and select Run as Administrator from the popup menu. Confirm.
– Navigate to C:WindowsSystem32.
– Type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
– Click OK.
Now try installing Health Check again.

Thanks Hank, it worked fine!
But there is always a ‘but’ it seems … I downloaded the HP all OK and it then wanted me to update various aspects. To cut a long story short, I now have a new but BLANK Health Check screen and all it will say (when I try to do eg a check ) is: String was not recognised as a valid DateTime
Can’t win in this game can one!
Back to HP for a hoped fix for this one … whatever it means!
(If I get a solution I will try to paste it here for other HP users who may be having similar problems)

Hello again.
After sorting out the Javascript problem and then downloading the new HP Health Check, I am left with another problem that does not let me access the new Health Check … other HP users must have the same problem?
Is there a solution to the following message:
‘String was not recognised as a valid DateTime’

The problem is mentioned in the HP support forums: Serious problem with Health Check software, but no answer or solution in sight.

Is your system set to a non-US date format such as d.m.yyyy or yyyy-mm-dd? It’s possible that the HP software works only with US date format mm/dd/yy.

Sounds as if this may well be the problem!
I will have a look around and look at changing my date/time set up as you suggest … will wait a while though just in case HP fix it!
