• Just updated to 1909, feature update deferral now grayed out

I started from version 1903 & had feature updates deferred for 180 days.  Just updated to 1909 per Woody’s recommendation, but when I went to reset the feature update deferral back to 180 days, it’s now grayed out and showing 30 days.  The 7-day incremental pause for monthly updates still works fine.  Can anyone please tell me how to reenable deferral of the feature updates?  Thanks!

The pulldowns in the GUI are grayed out because you have deferrals set in Group Policy. You have to remove the Group Policy settings before the GUI settings will be functional.

There is an explanation of each of the settings, a guideline for Windows Update settings, and an example of the settings in Win10 Pro in AKB2000016.

I assume OP is using Win10 Pro

the GUI options should not be grayed out if using Win10 Home

EP is correct, I am running Pro, and apologies for leaving that out.

I went through your linked post, PKCano, and after a bit of trial and error, I now have the feature deferral ungrayed and showing 180 days.  Strangely, first the registry changes were lost on reboot, then on my 2nd try they stayed but the grayed-out 30-day setting in Settings remained regardless, but then on removing the 35-day delay, everything suddenly was correct.

I only upgraded from 7 to 10 in January, so I’m still learning the ropes.  Thanks very much for the help!
