This is an optional update that is being offered to Windows 7. I use RDP to administer my home computers and am thinking about installing this. Does anyone have comments pro or con on this update.

Thanks in advance for your comments,
    Seth

      From the KB web page:

“This article discusses the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 8.0 update that enables you to use the new Remote Desktop Services features. These features were introduced in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 R2. These features are now available for computers that are running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1).”

See http://support.microsoft.com/KB/2592687?wa=wsignin1.0 for more information on the new features.

It is up to you. If all is OK now then no need to install. It won’t hurt if you do though.

In the newsletter on 10/25/2012, Susan Bradley said, “What to do: Install KB 2592687 and KB 2574819 only if you’re using Remote Desktop for Win7-to-Win8 connections.
