    Running Windows 10 Pro x64 1709

Settings are via Group Policy – notify on updates, via Settings – Semi Annual Channel, Feature defer 365 days, Quality Update 30 days, Pause OFF.

Based on Susans OK to install, I set the defer to 15 days, clicked Check for Updates and got KB4088776 (March) and KB4088785 (Adobe) to download and install.

Missing is KB4089848 which was released 3/22 (15 days ago) so I set the defer to 12 days, Clicked for Updates but nothing came down and system says Your device is up to date.

How do I get the missing KB to come down?  Or has it been withdrawn or something?

KB 4089848 is the non-security update for 1709, equivalent to the Preview patches in Win7/8.1. They are pre-release meant for testing.
Your setting of SAC is preventing you from getting the patch. If you want all the test patches, change your setting to Semi Annual Channel (Targeted).

Or you can preserve your sanity somewhat by not being a MS Alpha tester, and leave it at the Beta-tester stage (SAC). MS hasn’t reached stable patch status yet.

I set my 1709 to SAC and I have not been offered KB 4089848 either.
(Be careful what you ask for. You just may get it!  🙂 )

      PK thanks!

How would I have known that is was a Preview? (for April)?

MS support show it is a newer build, but so does KB4088776 the month of March update.

Susan’s patch list also shows as safe to install and no mention of it being a Preview (like she does for Windows 7).

How do I recognize these in the future?

      Thx

      PK thanks again

The Win 10 History page is what I referred to as the MS Support page – can’t see any description difference from the earlier March update.
The MS Software Info page also shows and reads like any other update starting with 2018-03.
Maybe you could chat with Susan to note these as “Previews” in the future??

      Thx

If you scroll down you will find KB 4089848 listed under non-security.

Check that the QualityCompat ALLOW RegKey is still set. It was on my 1709 and I did not get the patch.

Per original post, I didn’t get the patch and couldn’t get the patch with my settings – that was the issue.  Thankfully based on your explanation, I didn’t want the patch.

But I thought it was just a March patch of a patch based on Susan’s Patch List which shows it to be Safe and OK to install.

Need more clarification of monthly patches/updates and Previews on Windows 10.

With all the Windows 7 issues, Windows 10 seems docile now a days.

After further review of the Windows 10 1709 History page, it appears that KB4089848 was not just a preview but a bunch of non-security updates.

Still don’t understand why they did not come thru my settings as it seems they are not part of a feature upgrade.

Should they be installed?  If so, how do I get them to come down?  If not why and when will their improvements be available?

I’m now on hold for April updates.

      Thx

KB4089848 non security update will be included in the April Cumulative Update KB 4093112. You do not need to install it separately.
