Largest & Smallest unique numbers (2000)

Hallo

I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I have tried different approaches but the normal formulas does not solve my problem.

I have a long list of numbers. There are duplicates in the numbers. I am trying to pull out the 5 largest numbers and also the 5 smallest numbers.

Any help would be appreciated.

See the attached workbook. For the largest and smallest numbers, a simple MAX / MIN formula is used, for the others, array formulas combining MAX / MIN and IF are used. Array formulas must be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

Thank you very much, I have one more question: what is the purpose of 9E+307 / -9E+307.
Sorry for the ignorant question but I always try to understand why something is done.

9E+307 (i.e. a 9 followed by 307 zeros!) is near to the largest number possible in Excel, and -9E+307 is its negative counterpart. They are used as numbers way beyond the values your list is likely to contain.
