Does anyone know how to stop this nuisance?

Since Firefox auto-installed v136 release (32 & 64bit) on my various laptops and desktop when Firefox starts up there is now a window that opens in the middle of the screen requesting the entry of Firefox Primary Password.
I do use the Firefox Primary Password feature to store passwords but the Primary Password request only showed up when a login password was needed to access accounts (e.g. eBay, Amazon, AskWoody, etc.).
This is happening on Windows 10 running Firefox v136 32bit and Windows 11 running v136 Firefox 64bit versions.
Is there a bug in Firefox v136 ? And, is there any way of stopping this annoying pop-up?

Any idea’s on how to make it go away are welcome.

    Thank you.
    Gordon (in little old England)

I always turn off credential saving in my browsers and use a password manager. Then the browser doesn’t ask to save or offer credentials.

I assume turning this off will also prevent it asking for the master password.

      cheers, Paul

        Paul,
The down-side with that option is I have to remember or find the passwords, and using an alternative password manager could be a bit of a faff when Firefox has a built in option that used to work and now does again, thankfully.
        Thank you, all the same.
        Best regards,
        Gordon.

Using a manager built-in to your browser is not good if you lose your machine – backup can be tricky.
          Or if you change browser.
You can’t use it on another device.
You can’t use it in a non-browser program.
You can’t easily store all the other things you need remember – security questions, CC details, passport info, medical…

Most password managers integrate with your browser to make login easy.

          cheers, Paul

All browsers can sync passwords across devices and the vast majority can store other details of any accounts.

Good points …………… and thank you.
I will revise my thinking on that one.

However, I do back up my Firefox profile as part of a full system SSD clone backup to an external HDD.
I also have every login and password secreted away in a Palm handheld  device just in case.

A Search for “Firefox requires Primary Password all of the time” produced a Thread that confirms BUG# 1946121 created. His post included [ “Many thanks for explaining. I find that if I click “Cancel” at that first demand for a password it doesn’t ask me again until I go to a site that needs a password.” ]
Better yet, IF you Clk the Bug# and read toward the end it appears they have a Patch to offer users ASAP.

        Hoorah !!!
        Craig saves the day.
I couldn’t find a ‘patch’ as such but your info led me to go down the path of delete and restore.
Basically the procedure I performed was as follows:
        1. Click on the ‘Tools’ tab at the top of the Firefox window (that is assuming the ‘Menu’ bar option is displayed, otherwise click the ‘hamburger top right and pan down and click ‘Settings’)
Pan down and click the ‘Settings’ option  and click ‘Privacy & Security’ in the left panel
        2. In the main window pan down to ‘Passwords’ and untick ‘Use a Primary Password’
        3.  Click on ‘Change Primary Password’ enter the current password, then tick the ‘Use a Primary Password’ and enter the same (old) or different password in the two ‘New Password’ boxes.
        4. Close out of the ‘Settings’ window ……………   job done.
Open up a URL / website that doesn’t need a password and hey presto, no ‘Password Required’ box appears.
Marvellous and thank you for clue’ing me in.

        Best regards,
        Gordon.

Sadly, that did not work for the 32bit Firefox on a 32bit Windows 10 O/S.
I can only assume that it is and inherent bug of some kind in Firefox 32bit version 136.0
