Lenovo ThinkPad not updating to Windows 11 22H2

Hi,

For some reason my two Lenovo ThinkPads have not been ‘offered’ Windows 11 22H2 and are stuck on 21H2, which Susan B. tells me is about to drop off Microsoft support list.
Question:
Is there a KB package that can be downloaded from the Microsoft Catalog to maually install the upgrade?
Is so, what is it and where can I find it?

Did you run any of Susan’s scripts to set Target Release Version (TRV) to 21H2?
Did you make any Group Policy (Pro Edition) or Registry (Pro and Home Editions) changes to set TRV to 21H2?
Are you using any Windows Update third-party programs (WUMgr, etc) or wushowhide to block or hide 22H2?
Are you using GRC’s In Control to set the version? If so, Release Control.

In answer to your questions……….

Existing Windows 11 21H2 is the Pro version.
GP Target Release Version is set to Windows 11, version 22H2
No 3rd party apps blocking / hiding 22H2
GP Windows Update set to advise and show availble updates but not down to load and/or automatically install them.

Also using the Windows 22H2 iso the readiness part comes back and says the PC does not have Secure Boot Feature. I does have Secure Boot but it is not on / enabled
When I enabled it in the BIOS config the machine failed to bootup.
I assume the installed Windows 11 21H2 is blocked as Secure Boot does not recognise it as a ‘friendly’ OS and as far as I am aware Secure Boot, UEFI etc has never been enabled since day-1. Even when set to boot from either/both (legacy first and UEFI second) it still won’t fire-up.
Any idea’s, or recommendations?

I am familiar with the requirements for Windows 11 21H2 which is already installed and has been since 11/2022.
The sticking point is Secure Boot which may or may not be configured / enabled correctly in the BIOS and which I have no knowledge of how that should be.
Can the Windows 22H2 ISO install the upgrade even if secure boot is disabled?

Hi,

These are Windows 10 package upgrades not Windows 11.
I need to get from Windows 11 22H1 to Windows 11 22H2, is there a package on the updates catalog for this?

Yes, with Rufus.

If you have Platform Mode in BIOS set to “Setup Mode” you should change it to ‘User Mode’ in order to enable Secure Boot

Hi,

Have checked out the Security setting in the Lenovo ThinkPad BIOS and ‘Platform Mode’ is set on ‘User Mode’

Does secure boot really have to be enabled to install and run Windows 11 22H2 ???

And if Secure Boot needs to be enabled what about the other related settings that are shown in the same BIOS Security section as the Secure Boot enable/disable option, do they need changing ???

Thank you for the Rufus tip, top marks 10/10 for that.
Once I had found out how to use it (poor to non-existant user instructions from developer) everything worked out fine and the upgrade installed without any isues of any kind.
All is working well and the v22H2 update notifications are coming through automatically and download and install using Windows Update MiniTool, no problem.
