The Document Foundation is releasing LibreOffice 7.6.2 Community and LibreOffice 7.5.7 Community ahead of schedule to address a security issue known as CVE 2023-4863, which originates in a widely used code library known as libwebp, created by Google more than a decade ago to render the then-new WebP graphics format [1].
In addition to the CVE, the two new versions fix other bugs and regressions and are available immediately from https://www.libreoffice.org/download [2]. All users of LibreOffice are encouraged to update their current version as soon as possible.
The minimum requirements for proprietary operating systems are Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 and Apple MacOS 10.15…

AskWoody PlusOctober 23, 2023 at 10:43 am #2596409I am new to LibreOffice as of August, 2023. The version I installed then is now out of date.
–Do I understand that there is no automatic update? (If not, it looks like you have to go yourself to the LibreOffice website and download a newer version.)
–Do I understand that after it downloads, it replaces the older version with the newer version? Or do I have to do something after the download to make the updating happen?
–Is it better to select the update that has been tested longer? i.e., I wonder if you are likely to run into problems, if you select the newest version.

Yes.
Do I understand that there is no automatic update?
I don’t know. Never used the install version.
I always use the ‘fresh’ (beta) portable versions. Never had a problem.
