Linked tables (2000 SR-1)

I’ve inherited a database to work on that includes linked tables. I’d like to add a field to one of these tables but I can’t. Are linked tables physically outside of the database? These tables look like they’re part of the database.

Sorry if the question sound naive–I’m just not that familiar with linked tables. I checked the help files but I still couldn’t figure things out.

Yes, the linked tables are in another database. You can find out where by checking Tools, Database Utilities, Linked Table Manager to find the path to the other database.
