    Hi all

Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to create links to file system folders (in contrast to Outlook folders) in Outlook’s “favourite folder” pane? Ideally, I’d like to be able to drag an email onto a file system folder link so it would automatically be stored as an .msg file.

Someone told me that you could do such a thing with Outlook XP, but I never used that particular version.

As always, I’d be grateful for any suggestions.

    Thanks & regards

    Neil

Since Outlook XP didn’t have Favorite Folders, I guess that the advice you got probably referred to the Shortcut pane. In 2003 that capability changed somewhat, see if this thread helps any.

Thanks for that – I was able to replicate the creation of a link in this way, but id doesn’t let me perform the function that I’m really looking for – to archive messages by dragging them as .msg files. I can’t drag anything to the file system link – all I can do is click it to open the linked folder.

        Ah well, maybe Outlook 2006….

        Thanks for your help though
