Have a Logitech T850 keyboard that I am using with a Dell Inspiron 3487 desktop running WiNDOWS 10. Keyboard was initially hooked up via Bluetooth until I got into a situation where the Bluetooth would not work account the communications card had gone bad. I replaced that card and also installed the keyboard through USB2. over the weekend the keyboard started acting like the keys were sticking or not registering.

The keyboard can be connected to up to three devices, I have connected it to my phone…it works as intended when connected to my phone.  When using the CAPS LOCK key on the computer side, the caps lock light on the keyboard does not light up; when I do it on the phone side it does.

I have tried to disable the Bluetooth connection through Settings, but I DON’T get any confirmation that it has been disabled. I have also tried moving the USB2 plug – without success.

    HELP!

I am assuming your issue occurs only through USB2 connection. There are many reports of similar USB issues with Logitech mice. They were solved by using a USB extender cable to move the receiver away from the motherboard. You might try that to see if it makes a difference.

When I go through the Bluetooth removal utility it goes through the motions and then states ‘Removal Failed’ no matter if the keyboard is on or off.

At points in time during the day, it may work for several minutes and then fails again.

Did you remove it via Device Manager > Bluetooth, right click on the device?
This is the best method IMO.

Unless it’s “Bluetooth Device,” you may need to select “View|Show Hidden Devices”, above.

The keyboard is (or has been) logged in – in both Bluetooth and USB2 – and has worked well for the past 3 months or so.

Through ‘Device Manager’ I cannot discern what ‘displayed’ devices are the Keyboard in either Bluetooth or Universal Serial Buss.

There is no BT keyboard showing there so it seems you have another connection?

The USB dongle Logitech uses is what they call a Unifying receiver (i.e. it’s used to connect multiple devices to one PC) and, when using it to connect a Logitech keyboard/mouse, they’ll show up like this in device manager.

      UnifyinReceiver

Also, the part# for Logitech keyboards normally start with a K not a T. So @WSmmi16 is your keyboard actually the K850 that comes with the Logitech MK850 Performance Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo?

If so, it uses 2 AAA batteries and I’d suggest replacing them with new ones as weak batteries can lead to the symptoms you’re describing well before the LED lights up indicating they need to be replaced (BTDT.)

BTW, the part# for Logitech mice normally start with an M.

      Batteries have been replaced.

My HP wireless keyboard is shown as a generic keyboard. No sign of the wireless dongle.
My Bluetooth mouse shows up under the Bluetooth section.

      cheers, Paul

I am wondering why my device manager is showing two keyboards and two mice?

    • #2709652

I have 3 mice showing on my laptop – which has 2 mice. No idea why Windows does this.

My issue is that I don’t know how to diagnose what is failing – the keyboard, the ‘dongle’, the USB port. One of them is failing, but which one?

I opened the keyboard – and couldn’t see anything obviously wrong.

    • #2709782

As it’s OK on the phone it might be the USB connection. Set it up in Bluetooth again and leave the USB disconnected – remove the dongle.

Bought a Logitech Pebble 2 keyboard and mouse.  It works, that being said, the keyboard is too small for my hands and it doesn’t have a home key.

        Or End, Insert, Page Up/Down…

While I have deduced that the problem is with the keyboard.

It leads to the question, when I go into Settings for Bluetooth and utilize the tools provided to remove the devices it runs through the routine and reports ‘removal failed’

Second when I utilize Task Manager and go down through the Background Processes and find “Service Host: Bluetooth Support….” and “Service Host: “Bluetooth Audio G…” and attempt to END those processes – they don’t appear to get stopped.

Just observations that I don’t understand

Removal is local so you may have Windows corruption.
I would start with SFC and DISM (manually or use Jim’s Toolbox to make it easy).

            cheers, Paul
