I have a new machine running WindowsXP with a Logitech keyboard that has 3 extra keys. These keys opened and ran IE6, Outlook Express and the search facility.

I installed Opera and Pegasus and the WWW key alternated in a random way between IE6 with Opera with the Mail key doing the same between Pegasus and Outlook Express.

Continued tweaking a variety of things (not to do with the keyboard) and it settled down to nothing on the WWW or the Mail key with the Search key working correctly

I failed to the find anything useful on the Logitech web site and would be pleased if anyone in The Lounge could help me to get the keys working again.
Would it be something in the registry?

Unfortunately, those extra keys are controlled by the software that came with the keyboard. It’s possible that something is in the registry that points to the function, but your best bet is to try removing and re-installing the software first. Also shoot an email to Logitech support. You paid for it, it should perform as expected – not having that software I can’t dig into it and tell you what to look for, but Logitech certainly can.

It would also be interesting if someone in the Lounge has had experience with this software, and could offer some insight. Don’t tell anyone but I am a sworn MS IntelliType user duck. Their hardware has always impressed me. Too bad Windows doesn’t work the same way! wink

      Added url code.

Here is the site for Logitech keyboard software:

There are two software downloads available and you have to pick the correct one for your keyboard. My keyboard uses the Itouch software and is working fine with WinXP HE. And sure enough in checking the link above I see that both my keyboard and mouse software has been updated in the past few days.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the iTouch software.
This I downloaded and installed on my “trial” partition.

Just as well it was the trial partitions as
I could use the mouse to call up iTouch and begin to set up
the three buttons but as soon as I touched any key on the keyboard everything
locked and I had to re-boot with the “reset” button on computer case.

A total lock like this is unusual in WinXP.

Whilst the iTouch software download is needed to alter the defaults on these three buttons
the buttons worked initially with the standard Microsoft keyboard driver.

Whilst in my “trial” partition I can get Pegasus with the e-mail button and Search with
the serach button. Nothing on the WWW button.

In my “work” partition only the Search button works.

I still hope there is an easier way than a 5 Mbyte download of software that locks
        my particular machine!

I have not yet tried a direct contact with Logitech as I find the bigger the organisation
the less likely I am to get a helpful reply, or any reply at all……

Thanks for the suggestions from The Lounge.
