I’m not sure how best to word this for a title for this postiing but hopefully I can properly describe it here.
I am looking at a ledger where every row is an income or an expense line and each row has 24 columns with $$$ amounts that represents the past 12 months thru the next 12 months worth of ledger info. SOme of these rows are showing values which are the sum of 1 or more rows above. Unfortunately there’s nothing in the sheet shwoing what rows or values these rows are referencing to derove there Total Value; if there were this would be easy. The last row in each column is like a final total whcih could be the sum of 1 or more rows above. This value is off and I’m trying to determine which row or rows above are being included in the total that shouldn’t be.
I know what the value should be in the bottow row so I can calculate how much it is off. What I can’t easily determine is what coimbination of cells above wil equal this difference. If I can then I will find which rows are being included in this grand total that shoudl not be.
All of the values in the worksheet are hard coded, no formulas so unless Excel has some fancy formula that can do this I have to manually locate what combination of cells in the same column will sum up to the difference value.
Any suggestions on an easy way to do this? Preferably some whiz bang Excel formula??
Thanks
