where are the macros stored? some were global macros. some were on that document/spreadsheet. for world and excel. how to recover? saved it as 2013 macro-enabled format and still nothing.

Global macros are stored in a Personal Macro Workbook or in add-ins. Other macros are saved in their respective workbooks. Did you install VBA when installing 2013?
