Our ISP is phasing out their email addresses, and I am looking to use a gmail address as my default email inside superior MS Outlook 2019 (much better than gamil website).
However, when I went to start a new account, it started a new PST, meaning I effectively lost 20+years of emails from old ISP which I need.
So I had to change back to old email address to get all my old emails back from old PST.
Is there some way I can start a new account in MS Outlook, then import all my old emails & “lost” PST into that new account?
    Any help appreciated.

… If that is a bit complicated, in short… “In Outlook 2019 if you add a new account, it starts a new PST – how do you import from old PST into this new PST?”

When setting up the new account choose manual setup and then use existing pst at bottom right

Consider using a private email service such as Runbox.

Make sure that you get an account that has sufficient storage to accommodate your 20 years of email.

Once you have a new account, open Outlook, click file, and add the account.

Once the new account is added to Outlook you can simply sequentially highlight the items in your inbox, sent mail, etc.  from the email address that you ISP is phasing out and drag them into the new Runbox account.

It is also possible that your new email service provider will transfer your emails for you.  Read their web pages careful or ask them the question before subscribing.

Be sure to backup (export) the contents of the Outlook account that is being phased out prior to making the transfer to your new internet service provider.

Twenty+ years of emails saved on your “old” ISP’s server could be a lot of data to store.

Have you given any thought to sorting through messages, deleting the ones that are no longer relevant, and printing/saving the remaining mail as .pst files?

That’s too much saved data IMO. Anything over 2 weeks is a candidate for deletion on my machines.

Another alternative is to use multiple PST files with POP3 when multiple email addresses are in play.

Before making Outlook configuration changes, I always backup my multiple PST files.
