Make Table Format

I am trying to create a table containing dates from a Make Table query. In the output table, I need the format to be dd:mm:yy hh:mm:ss. Do you know a way of enforcing this?

Would it work if you created the table structure with the date field in the format you wanted and then instead of using a create table query, use an append query to pull your data into the table you created?
