I had the following question sent to me this week and thought to post it on to the lounge to see how many loungers can crack it and enter their names in the roll of honor when the attachment is opened using the correct answer as the password. Dave…..
    Just for fun….
Attached is a spread sheet (XLS) file. Solve the following to open it and add your name….
There are 7 girls on a bus.
    Each girl has 7 backpacks.
In each backpack there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat there are 7 little cats.
How many legs are on the bus?

The number of legs is the password to open the attached spreadsheet. If you open it, add your name and send it on to see who else can unlock it.

    Good luck.

      That wasn’t too hard… (7*2 + 343*4 + 2401*4 = 10990)

Elementary Mr Watson, must admit it is a piece of cake compared to post 677269, though I can’t see any reason to spend time on that particular one. Dave.

      Although I got 10990

The actual logical answer is 0 as buses have wheels not legs grin

I want to know what happened to the driver’s legs.

        • #1088321

One can presume that the driver is one of the girls….

Also, based on what is written, there could be even more legs on the bus. It says the bus has those girls, it doesn’t say that those are the only passengers, there could be boys and even other animals that are not mentioned…

            > even other animals that are not mentioned…

Including the slithering non-selective leg muncher, which may mean that the number of legs is a monotonically decreasing function of time.

I think that this question shows an inbuilt prejudice against one legged people, and three legged animals. Shame on all of you!

      VERRRRYYYY INTERESTING …

I have seen this before, so I didn’t comment on this one. Since you posting, I have received in three more times n an e-mail, my sister claims to have seen the question on a Quiz show called “Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader ?”, and ….

My youngest God Daughter showed me one of her math tests that had this question (modified some using dogs not cats, brothers not girls, and a junk yard not a bus).
