I am receiving an error “The instruction at ‘0x06120b58’ referenced memory at ‘0x00000054’. The memory could not be read” when trying to open the user interface to Oracle with IE 7.

I did not have the issue with IE 6, but have not been able to get Oracle to open with IE 7.

Any one have an idea what might be happening?

    Thanks

If this requires some addon to IE, the addon probably needs to be updated.

It does use the Oracle JInitiator Control Panel 1.1.7.18, but one of the other folks on the team has the same verson on her machine and is able to open the application with no error.

I will check and see if there is an updated version.

        Thanks

Have you tried a reboot? After a reboot, does it happen when IE is the first application opened?

            I did try the reboot.
It does not seem to mater if IE is the first application opened or if other things are opened first.

The error varies slightly, in the the instriction reference maybe different, but the memory at location is always the same.

I’d try to uninstall and reinstall the Oracle addon.

Do you know whether the control panel is an ActiveX control or uses Java? If it’s a Java applet, you could check whether your JRE is current.

It is a Java applet. How would I check the JRE for version?

              Thanks

Open the Java (or Java Console) control panel applet – if you’re using Category View in Windows XP’s control panel, it can be found in Other Control Panel Options.
You can check the version by clicking the About button in the first tab. Version (1.)6 revision 03 is the current version.
Activate the Update tab and click Update Now.
You can also go to Download Free Java Software to download and install the current version.

              I have the current version.
