A friend has an ACER 233 mhz running WIN 95. When she starts up the system, she gets an error message MEMORY TEST FAILED with the options of pressing F1 to continue or DEL to enter SETUP. The system seems to go through the check for the 64 MB RAM memory OK – it is later that the error message comes up. Suggestions???

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 16, 2001 at 1:18 am #542631Has any new memory been installed? Has the PC been moved around? If you/your friend are happy poking around in the case, I would suggest removing and re-installing the memory card(s). If the memory has not failed, there may simply be a poor connection. This may come down to something as simple as oxidisatiuon on contacts. Reseating the memory can be enough to solve the problem.
