How do I get text (eg. a business use policy message) with an OK box to appear during the login process of PCs on a peer to peer network? Thanks.

Check my posts in this thread – otherwise, what operating system(s)?

Thanks Leif, I tried your other post, doesn’t seem to help unfortunately. On the network are Windows 95, 98 and XP – not logging on to a server though – just peer to peer, so I need a script on each machine (I think – but I know very little about scripts!). Thanks

or why not try VBScript in the Startup folder in the Start menu. There is some code attached. Rename it to .vbs and run. But as alwaysa with VBS take a look at it first to make sure it’s not gonna bust up ur system. If you have a firewall on the PC you might have to set it to let the Script run.

That’s what I would do also. The script is safe — it only calls for a Message Box to be displayed — so you don’t have to worry about it busting your system.

It does require the users have Windows Script Host running unemcumbered. If you have control over these machines, then that should be no problem.

Thanks Jambo, I tried this and it worked fine.
Thanks to everyone else for all other suggestions too!

Have you looked into Xteq’s X-Setup? It has a feature to allow a ‘Legal Notice’ to be displayed pre-login. I’ve never used it, so I can’t be precise on details – other than the attached screen shot – but if you test it out and like what it can do, you can always ‘record’ making the change (one of X-Setup’s options) which will then give you a .reg file that can be merged onto your other systems.
