It appeared yesterday. KB 4461585 is supposed to provide all of the security goodies in KB 4461529, with none of the crashes. Thx, @TVWizard

AskWoody MVPNovember 23, 2018 at 6:16 am #235203Best I can describe in layman’s terms is: Outlook is an email client application installed via MS Office suites on PC’s whereas, Hotmail, is an email service provided by MS which can be accessed by email clients or webmail.
MS discontinued the Hotmail service domain in 2013 which was replaced by outlook dot com domain (with the option to keep hotmail dot com email addresses using outlook dot com)Windows - commercial by definition and now function...1 user thanked author for this post.

ManagerNovember 25, 2018 at 12:27 pm #235531I updated a Win10 v1709 today with Outlook 2010 x64 installed. I was offered KB4461529. I hid it with wushowhide. I was not offered KB4461585 and I did not want to risk Outlook crashing, so I did not unhide and install KB4461529. Hopefully they will offer the fix through Windows Update on Dec Patch Tues.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 26, 2018 at 11:16 pm #236506KB4461585 is finally distributed via WU. So it’s interesting to know if KB4461585 cumulative update and replace previous KB4461529?! In description no info about it. Only recommendation do not uninstall KB4461529.
Both updates are not checked in WU. What does it mean?
I didn’t install KB4461529 because of DEFCON-2!columbia2011

ManagerNovember 27, 2018 at 5:07 am #236544I had installed KB4461529 on my 64-bit Office previous to knowledge of the problem with Outlook. My Office suite includes Outlook, but I do not use it for my mail client.
This morning I was offered KB4461585 as a checked update in WU. I suspect it was checked because KB4461529 was installed and needed to be replaced. I installed KB4461585. Looking through the Installed Updates, KB4461529 no longer appears, so it seems that KB4461585 has superceded it.
