This preview no longer shows as hidden nor in the Windows Update queue.

Once again a Preview CU .NET KB4576947  removes the original Sept monthly CU .NET KB4576484 from wushowhide where I had been holding it awaiting Defcon 3.

Now have to either obtain the original from the MS Catalog or install the Preview at Defcon 3!

What’s the recommendation?

Windows 10 Pro x64 v22H2 and Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 (RIP)

Hide KB4576947 and use the Catalog download for KB4576484. Save KB4576484 somewhere until DEFCON-3 or greater.

I did hide KB4576947  however it was removed  from WUSH and I never received KB4576484.  Is it best to wait for update Tuesday and see what is offered up, or take other action?  Thanks.

KB4576947 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework

My system’s Windows Update wanted to install this update this morning. Want to know waht it is/does before I install and I postponed it another 7 days.

Why is it called ‘Week Preview‘?
Preview sounds as if it is an MS attempt to have it tested before a final release later?
Why ‘Week‘?

Anyone who can explain?

You don’t install previews unless the updates fixes some serious bugs .
The previews will be part of next month patch Tuesday.
A month has 4 weeks.
Patch Tuesday is on the second week of the month (week B).
After patch Tuesday Microsoft releases Week C and week D preview (beta) patches.
Microsoft even released Week E (on the first week of the next month) patches.

the KB4577062 update for 1903/1909 has a “known issue” documented by MS (support article 4577062 updated Sept. 24)

Symptom
When updating to Windows 10, version 1903 or Windows 10, version 1909 from any previous version of Windows 10, you might receive a compatibility report dialog with “What needs your attention” at the top and the error, “Continuing with the installation of Windows will remove some optional features. You may need to add them back in Settings after the installation completes.” You might receive this compatibility warning when LOCAL SYSTEM accounts are blocked in a firewall from accessing the internet via HTTP. This is caused by the Windows 10 Setup Dynamic Update (DU) being unable to download required packages.

Workaround
If your device has access to HTTP blocked for LOCAL SYSTEM accounts, to mitigate this issue you can enable HTTP access for the Windows 10 Setup Dynamic Update (DU) using the LOCAL SYSTEM account. After you have allowed access, you can restart installation of the update and you should not see the warning. You can also continue by clicking the OK button or use the /compat IgnoreWarning command to ignore compatibility warnings but this might also ignore other warnings that your device might be affected by.
We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

guess that’s one reason why the KB4577062 update is optional and not needed for many 1903/1909 users
