Microsoft Security Essentials Problem??

When trying to load security essentials on this one PC that I have I get the following error when trying to update the dat files: error code: 0x80072efe,
error description: Microsoft security essentials couldn’t install the definition updates please try again later?
I installed the program straight from Microsoft web site. Anyone have an idea, Thanks

Make sure the computer date is current and maintaining itself.

Security Essentials is just echoing a Windows Update error code. There’s an Online Help article that explains this in “Top support topics” (Error “0x8*******” encountered while virus and spyware definition updates or product upgrades).

If Step 2 in this procedure doesn’t yield any results, you can refer to this Knowledge Base article (for Windows XP):

That error code indicates a lost internet connection. See You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates for some possible help.
