A month or so ago when Woody first suggested moving from Win 10 1803 to 1809 in order to gain more time before having 1903 force fed, I did so and everything went smoothly… or so it seemed.
I tried to use the calculator some time after the “upgrade”, and the calculator would not open. I thought I’d go to the Windows Store and reinstall the calculator, but, upon clicking the Windows Store icon, I found that it, too would not open. Next I went down the Start Menu list clicking apps that are available from the Store (none of which I use other than the calculator) and none would open. Third party apps opened normally. I concluded the problem might be another of the growing number of Microsoftisms and elected to wait and see if the next update might fix the problem. I updated yesterday and the problem remained afterward.
I went to the Windows Troubleshooter and it suggested I reset the affected apps (15 of them). Doing so did not fix the problem. The Troubleshooter reported “Hanging or crashing apps” and declared the problem fixed. Not so.
How might I go about fixing the problem?
