    A month or so ago when Woody first suggested moving from Win 10 1803 to 1809 in order to gain more time before having 1903 force fed, I did so and everything went smoothly… or so it seemed.

    I tried to use the calculator some time after the “upgrade”, and the calculator would not open.  I thought I’d go to the Windows Store and reinstall the calculator, but, upon clicking the Windows Store icon, I found that it, too would not open.  Next I went down the Start Menu list clicking apps that are available from the Store (none of which I use other than the calculator) and none would open.  Third party apps opened normally.  I concluded the problem might be another of the growing number of Microsoftisms and elected to wait and see if the next update might fix the problem.  I updated yesterday and the problem remained afterward.

    I went to the Windows Troubleshooter and it suggested I reset the affected apps (15 of them).  Doing so did not fix the problem.  The Troubleshooter reported “Hanging or crashing apps” and declared the problem fixed.  Not so.

    How might I go about fixing the problem?

      Start by going into the Settings app (if it works) and check you settings to be sure you have everything turned on.
      I don’t use any of the UWP apps, so I have done everything I know how to do to turn them off in settings.

      Theres a couple of things you could try.
      1. Settings->Apps->Microsoft Store (or faulty app)->Advanced options->Reset. Thats a quick solution.
      2. Open a Admin CMD prompt and type WSRESET when or if the store opens go to the top right corner and select “Downloads & Update and select Download up dates.
      3. Still no joy? well you can remove them with O&O App buster and reinstall using step 2. above choosing what you want or need. Note its inadvisable to attempt to remove the store for obvious reasons.
      There’s Power Shell CMDs that do the same as O&0 but theyre a pain to use, even with Copy and Paste.
      Hope that works for you 🙂

      Thanks, PKCano.  Everything is turned on, but none work.  I don’t use the UWP apps, either, except for the calculator and other calculators are available so I’m not sure the problem is worth trying to solve unless it affects something other than those apps.

      BobbyB, thanks. I tried resetting all 15 of the apps that wouldn’t open, including Microsoft Store. There was no response from any on the first try and, on second attempt to start them, blue windows containing the apps’ logos opened for each then disappeared after a few seconds. Also, Microsoft Store did not open in response to using the Admin CMD prompt and WSRESET. I haven’t tried O&O App buster.

      I’ve about decided that it’s more trouble than it’s worth trying to solve a problem with apps that I never use (other than Calculator). Unless something other than Microsoft Store and its apps is adversely affected, I believe I’ll be content to let it go as it is.

      Fortunately 1809 will be supported for one more year until april, so there’s a chance the problem is solved by installing future updates, It happened to me when the store was corrupt  back when Creators update was the newest Upgrade.

      Just someone who don't want Windows to mess with its computer.
