AskWoody PlusNovember 25, 2017 at 12:23 am #147327I was wondering what happened to it. It was offered by Windows Update to all 3 of my WIN 7 machines for a few days after it was published (11/14/2017). Then a few days ago, it disappeared from the list of available updates on all 3. I just figured it was a Windows Update screw-up, and so didn’t go looking for it in the Catalog or support pages. I seem to recall that there were no security updates in it, but I could be wrong.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 25, 2017 at 1:36 am #147329If someone really, really, really still wants this, the Oct Preview of this buggy .Net update for Win7 & Server 2008 R2 (KB4042076) is still available for download in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

AskWoody PlusNovember 25, 2017 at 4:49 am #147335Yep, and the October preview is being offered to me by Windows Update as an optional update. That seems really shifty to me. If you’re going to pull a patch, then pull it, but don’t dangle it to people (even as a preview) when you know darn well it causes problems.

AskWoody_MVPNovember 25, 2017 at 6:59 am #147343Perhaps the reason is because Microsoft is expected to update the metadata-supersedence relationship between the October 2017 and November 2017 .NET Framework updates, according to a comment from Microsoft employee Rich Lander at https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dotnet/2017/11/14/net-framework-november-2017-security-and-quality-rollup/.
Three other updates (4049017, 4049018, 4049019) listed at https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dotnet/2017/11/14/net-framework-november-2017-security-and-quality-rollup/ are also not available in the catalog now.

GuestNovember 27, 2017 at 11:33 am #147781If it’s just a matter of making it supersede the Oct one, it’s odd to just pull first instead of replace… but also means there’s no actual issue in the patch that they’re fixing at a later time, so no worries for those who did install it, right?
