Security Bulletins are getting the boot, to align with the new groups-of-patches-only distribution. I think the new approach delivers a lot more usefu

GuestNovember 10, 2016 at 7:09 pm #23187I don’t know, as an IT admin, I liked the old security bulletins and list of patches, you could easily see which patches are critical, which ones important, and which ones you should think about down the road. It gave you a clear-cut summary as which patches to immediately roll out for zero-day vulnerabilities, and which ones to keep testing for a while and possibly delay for a month.
Sure, for most end users it was useless info, but for people running responsible business network infrastructure, it was very important info. And, Woody, individual patches are not gone altogether, when you WSUS, you still get them all, and I’m quite happy with that. More annoying going through the long way, but worth it if a big update breaks something.

GuestNovember 11, 2016 at 8:17 am #23191WINDOWS 7 SYSTEM IMAGE – BACKING-UP IS HARD TO DO!
Hello Woody!
Any chance of a quick guide to Windows 7 System Image Back-Up and Restore?
Especially to external usb hard drives and usb pen/flash drives.Had a few problems with microsoft’s Win7 built-in utility.
Sector size incompatibility with newer external hard drives (including ones 1TB or less).
Doesn’t work with usb pen/flash drives.Several failures with both Windows and other system imaging software using new 1TB external drives.
Win7 won’t format these hard drives to 512kb sector NTFS.
4K sector NTFS (Default) is the smallest available.Win7 will format usb pen/flash drives to 512kb sector NTFS!
15hrs(!) to Full-Format a 128gb pen/flash drive to 512kb sector NTFS.
Format successful.
Only to find that Win7 system image back-up doesn’t work with them!Any ideas on how to get the Win7 utility to work?
Other software to work?
EaseUs Todo Free?
Macrium Reflect Free?
Aomei Backupper Free? Now would be a good time for us Win7-ers to “Back It Up Y’All!”.
Your usual excellent advice much appreciated by me and “Toshy”, my laptop best buddy!
Cheers!
