Quick question, in previous posts, you’ve mentioned the preferred process is to run a fresh install.  In this article it is mentioned for home installations you can try to run the MS upgrade path.  Am I reading this correctly?

I will be doing a full backup of the system before running the upgrade.  I typically backup and then restore the backup to a new SSD, then run the update.  That way, if it completely blows up in my face, I can simply reinstall the original SSD and continue for the time being.

      Thanks.

I honestly prefer buying a new pc that has Windows 11 on it.  It will be peppier and faster than a computer that was shipped with a 10 downgrade.

Yes, my last year’s ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 AMD has W11.
I have three other PCs and laptop that will be upgraded.
          AMD 5600G
          AMD 5700 w/Nivida
          ThinkPad X240.
Hopefully the W11 upgrades will not be too painful.

Otherwise, new SSD NVMe and new install.. (Yuk)

Malwarebytes Browserguide blocks my attempt to dowload WhyNotWin11 on account of “a risky pattern”.  I seem to be unable to override it.

“…but one that “blocks” Windows 11 24H2. Then sit back and wait. Sooner or later, Microsoft will push Windows 11 to you”

So if I change my blocks to allow Win 11 but not 24H2, does this mean MS will push 23H2 to my machine? If so, that would be worth trying.

If MS pushes Win11, without blocks on which version, you will get 24H2. If you do not want 24H2, you need to use blocks to limit the update to 23H2, where you specify the version. These include InControl with settings “11” and “23H2,” or Group Policy with TargetReleaseVersion set to “Windows 11” and version set to “23H2” (for Pro Editions only), or the Registry  at

        Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

        set to these values:
