Greetings, can anyone tell me if there are useful utilities to aid in extracting programs and their setting and data from my old (very old!) x64 Widows 7 Enterprise desktop and loading them onto a new x64 Gigabyte Aero loaded with v1909 Windows 10 Pro? Thanks…

I always install afresh on new hardware, but you will want license versions and data.

Some programs can be configured just by copying files, others are much harder.
If you make a list of programs you want to transfer and post them here we can suggest options.

      cheers, Paul

I’m basically trying to keep my Office 2016 Word and Excel, as I really don’t want to have to go to the 365 subscription model. In fact, if that was the only alternative then I would dump MS Office: such was the appalling experience I endured when 365 came out and I was “required” by my then-employer to use it.

      We use Laplink PCmover Professional.

If you use Laplink, you may need your Office 2016 license # to complete the transfer.

Or if you do not want Office 365 you can purchase Office 2019 and transfer you files.

      We prefer Laplink.

Is Office a retail version? If so removing it from the old and installing on the new should be fine.

If you have customised Word, copy Normal.doc to the new PC.

      cheers, Paul
