This summer, maybe as early as June, we are going to move from Office 2003 to Office 2007 and from GroupWise 7 to Outlook 2007. I have a lot of questions about what will happen with our email and how to make this migration as smooth as possible. Do you have any suggestions on where I can get some information?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 13, 2009 at 4:05 pm #1141705Your IT staff should do this for you. I have no personal experience, but these may be helpful (to your IT staff):
http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutoria…tion-part1.html%5B/url%5D and all subsequent sections
http://www.novell.com/communities/node/507…ailed-migration%5B/url%5DIf you are asking from the user perspective, I recommend that you both make back up copies of all your Groupwise files and Archives, and also back your Address B ook(s) up by exporting them to a spreadsheet or structured text file.
My wife uses both products, and strongly prefers Outlook. Of course, you’ll have a learning curve, but that’s what this Forum is for. Good luck.

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 13, 2009 at 5:26 pm #1141715Thanks. I am the IT Support Trainer, so I will be the one users call to ask why this doesn’t work or that didn’t get copied and how to do this or that in Outlook. I plan to hold many many pre-release training classes as well as ongoing training. So I need to know the gotcha’s ahead of time. What can we do now in GroupWise that we won’t be able to do in Outlook? What processes will change?
Our network team will be doing the actual migration, but I need to know the gotcha’s ahead of time.
Thanks for the links. I’ll take a look at them and see if they help.

AskWoody MVPJanuary 13, 2009 at 4:36 pm #1141710You ought to read the Microsoft documents at 2007 Office Resource Kit and Microsoft Office desktop resource kit, downloads, more | TechNet. Lots of information.
