After numerous frustrations with my wife’s defective Acer computer, we’re shopping for a replacement.

My brother recently “converted” to Apple products, and suggested the Mac Mini.

Is this machine powerful enough to watch videos on the web?

    Thanks.

      Hi J,

If you are watching videos on the web from a browser, then yes, the Mac Mini is more than capable. I have used one before to do so, and it was an earlier model. You pay a premium, but you get pretty good hardware and a small form factor. You should easily be able to stream from a service such as Netflix too.

Yes, as a “media consumption” device it will do just fine, especially if it has HDMI now so you can easily put the videos up on an HDTV?
Too bad you are having a bad Acer experience, I love the Acer Aspire X series small form factor computers as media PCs. They still have good power for a micro PC, and built in HDMI, eSATA, firewire, plenty of USB, run videos and/or movies on the web or from a drive to a monitor or an HDTV…or both. Best part, cost; got all mine for less that $300 and not a problem with any of them (4) so far except the network adapter was dead on one, but that was easy to fix.
