Susan Bradley’s Patch Watch article in the 2016-08-11 newsletter states:

“As promised, on August 2, Microsoft began rolling out Win10 Anniversary Upgrade — aka Version 1607. If you’ve installed the new version, you should have already received a cumulative update, in the form of KB 3176495.”

I installed the 1607 update but there has been no sign of the KB 33176495 fix for it. My laptop is running the Win10 64-bit Home version.

My Wife’s laptop still has not received the 1607 update. Is that anything to be concerned about?

    Thanks,
    Bill

Hi! Sorry I’ve taken so long to respond to your suggestion. I’ve been really busy on something else entirely.

A few days before I posted my msg that started this thread I spent quite a bit of time downloading and installing the so-called Anniversary update, version 1607. Afterwards, I did an update search on this laptop and I believed that it showed me that 1607 was installed. However, when I run winver as you suggested it is not there! See the image below to see what winver says.

I suppose the most obvious thing to do is the download and install it again. Do you agree with that approach?

      Thanks,
      Bill

According to winver, 1607 didn’t install. If you previously tried to install 1607 there must be a reason that it did not install. Do you remember any messages during/after the attempted install that came up?
Did you use the Microsoft Creation Tool ( MCT ) for 1607 and if so, are you sure that it was actually 1607?
1607 has NOT gone out to all computers yet from MS Updates so the only way to get it ( if you haven’t received it through updates ) would be the current MCT if you are sure that you want it.
Personally, I have been holding off on the AU until there are more positive post’s about problem fixes but there are many who had no problems at all.
In other words, if you want to roll the dice and hope for the best, use the MCT and download/install 1607, your choice.

Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does 🙂

I had to use the MCT to select Upgrade this PC rather than the option for installing on another computer as well as disabling the AV aspect and Firewall in my Norton Security – otherwise I would just get a black screen after the reboot at 75%

If your install appeared to go the full distance then there may be some info as to why it hadn’t.

Reliability history should have something for that date as well as Event Viewer.

If you’ve created a Win 10 install disk/USB from MCT then you can stick that in after booting up Windows and perform a repair install to see if that will succeed, but disable your AV program before doing it.
