The docproc.msi file has disappeared from C:\Users\Home\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS4863\setup\docproc\.
[My user name is “Home,” I’ve exposed hidden files and folders, and yet the last part of the file path “\7zS4863\setup\docproc\” cannot be found.]
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the full setup package more than once, to include downloading the most recent installation executable from HP. I’ve also scanned my laptop for DocProc.
Beginning late last month (Oct 2023), when I try to start a scan, I get the following error message:
“The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to the folder containing the installation package “DocProc.msi” in the box below. [The Box is labeled :Use Source:” and contains the following entry:” “C:\Users\Home\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS4863\setup\docproc\”]
Clicking OK results in another error message stating that the path cannot be found, and suggests finding the installation package “DocProc.msi” in a folder from which I can install the product DocProc. If I click OK, I get another error that reads: “Error 1706. No valid source could be found for produce DocProc. The Windows Installer cannot continue. ”
This continues for three rounds before the error messages stop.
Internet and HP community recommend reinstalling “photosmart” but there is no version available for my scanner. I have found Microsoft Scan to at least use my scanner for basic scanning, but I’ve lost the ability to scan old 35mm slides. So, I’m not completely out of business with a new door stop.
