Actually, my question is about a problem with MS Money 2002 – but there’s no longer a forum for this app. For some reason it is producing an IE Script Error.

I’m using MS Money 2002, fully up to date via web updates.
    I’m using IE version: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp1.020828.1920

An error is created when I click on the toolbar button More | Organize Your Financial Information, and then choose the task: Enter information in the important records organizer.

This immediately produces the error shown below. Strange that it would produce an IE error at that point as the IE Explorer is not even open, I’m not on the web and completing this task doesn’t require the web!

The error dialogue asks: Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Clicking “yes” will remove the dialog but the next thing you attempt on this screen will produce another Script Error.

Has anyone seen this behavior before and/or does anyone know how to correct the problem?

MS Money relies on IE for a number of features. This would explain why you get an IE error from within Money.

I have the latest IE with MS Money 2001 and have not had any similar problems. Check your IE security settings. I wish I knew more specifically where to look, but I’ll bet it has to do with some feature that’s disabled that needs to be enabled in order to work. Start by checking the settings in the Local Intranet group (since the address is local rather than external).

      Hope this helps!

Thanks Mark and RH – I went into the security settings for Intranet and “enabled” everything! Now, Money gets by without error messages. Didn’t really see what one app has to do with the other but it worked! Kinda makes you wonder what would happen if you were a Money user but NOT an IE user???

        Thanks again, problem solved cheers

I’m glad to hear that you resolved the problem!

MS Money requires that IE be installed. If it’s not already on your system when you install Money, it will be added as part of Money’s install. This is very similar to other apps, such as Office 2K and above. Outlook uses IE to display HTML formatted messages – there’s no way around it (short of limiting all messages to Text only).

          Hope this hleps

To support what Mark said, I am using Money 2001 with IE6 XP SP1 update with no problems at all. You might want to re-install Money.
