I have two Microsoft IntelliEye 1.0 USB port mice. Both now malfunction. They started (at different times) by being very erratic, on my laptop under w2k. Now neither works at all. The red lights flash but they don’t talk to my laptop at all. An old wheel mouse on the PS2 port appears to work fine.

Is this common? Am I just unlucky? Can these little fellows conflict with touchpads?

Any help would be great

I had a problem with an MS Intellimouse Explorer. (Would only work on half the screen). Under warranty, so retailer exchanged it. New one works fine. Optical mice are more delicate than their mechanical cousins, but don’t get dirty balls or hairs wrapped round the rollers. I should ask a technician to test them on a known working system.
