Our company uses Office 2010. We have a class of documents for which we need to embed tables created in Excel; that is, insert links to the tables in a Word document. I’m trying to figure out how to make that work well.
The main problem is what happens to the links when a document is moved. The absolute pathname of the embedded object is saved as a property of the link. If the location of the document changes, all of the links fail.
I hoped I could make the link relative instead of absolute; that is, tell Word, “the linkpoints to a spreadsheet named xyz.xslx which is in the same folder as this document.” But there doesn’t seem to be any way to do that.
What solutions to this problem have other users found?
