Every time I open MS App it says there is an update available, but that my Mac needs an update first. My Mac says Monterey 12.7.6 is up to date.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve my dueling operating systems?

Upgrade to a newer Apple operating system.

“Microsoft only supports current releases of Microsoft 365 or Office 2021/2024 for new Mac installations on Ventura, Sonoma, or Sequoia. All Microsoft updates have ceased for their applications on Monterey or earlier operating systems.

At Apple’s discretion, they may issue a critical security update for Monterey, but otherwise, Apple support of Monterey has ended.”

The oldest version of MacOS still receiving updates is MacOS Ventura 13.x.
Here is the list of Macs eligible to run MacOS Ventura.

If your Mac is older than this, you will not be able to upgrade to MacOS Ventura, also limiting your updates to MS Office 365 Home for Mac.
