New PC. Windows 7. My video card controls my multiple monitors as one big desktop (through Catalyst Control Center).

How do I set the default location for windows opened by Windows 7 itself?

Programs are pretty much going where I want them to go.

But Windows dialog boxes (like “open” and “save”) and warning boxes are popping up right in the middle of my monitor set – divided by the physical edges of the monitors.

Is there a way to set these so that they open something like 10% of the pixels from the top, and 10% from the left?

Sorry to not know the answer, but I am interested to know also.
I changed them to separate monitors, at least now they open in the center of one monitor.

At least some windows do not respond to this workaround.

One example is the “Open File – Security Warning” dialog that open after one right clicks an executable and chooses “open”.

This all depends on how the application is code. Many apps calculate the location by looking at the screen size and at the dialog size and then centering the dialog. Thus if the screen size includes both screens, you end up with a split dialog. I treat my 2 monitors as separate and make one the main monitor. It seems that all centered dialogs appear in the middle of my main monitor.
