Can’t recommend this one highly enough. My Own Backup – a freebie program that backs up anything to anywhere. It’s so simple, I’ve got everyone in the office (finally) doing ‘regular’ backups, and so full of features that we do the company backup – across the network – using it.

Don’t let ’em get to ya, Flatspin. I remember DOS. The hardest part was trying to convert binary to hex …with a stick in the dirt. 
In any case, My Own Backup has the option to back up with several different levels of compression – or straight copy. Given this, a manual restore in DOS is a piece of cake.
Another nice feature – drag and drop selection lets you define backup sets. Once you’re set up, you don’t even have to think anymore. Great for Mondays.
Ha! Before them coal fired ones, we used to have to carve our computers out of GRANITE we quarried OURSELVES!
(OK, I haven’t been around that long, I just can’t resist hyperbole.)
Luxury! We used to have to get up out of the lake at three o’clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of hot grubble, work twenty hours a day at mill, for two pence a month, come home, and dad would beat us around the head and neck with a broken bottle, if we were lucky!

Eileen, we need a “Hijacked” icon to indicate when a thread has been “diverted”! (Who, me?)
I still drop back into DOS once in a while to get some things done. I had to be dragged kicking and screaming into Windows 3.0. I’d finally gotten the hang of things like dir *.e?e /w >prn.
One thing I DO miss about DOS – when you uninstalled something, you freaking UNINSTALLED it and nothing came back to haunt you six months down the road. 
I consider my self properly chastized and humbled.
