On my system at work, the “My Pictures” icon is missing from the Start Menu. I have tried to find information on how to restore it, but even in the properties box under advanced, the option is missing. I can pin it to the left side of the menu, but would like to have it as part of the general configuration as is my machine at home. Others in the office have the icon, so I know it is not a global issue involving configuration. Can anyone advise? (See attachment)

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

1) Right hand click an empty space on your Task Bar
2) Select Properties
3) Click Start Menu Tab
4) Click Customize…
5) Click Advanced Tab
6) Scroll down the Start menu items: until you find My Pictures
7) Select Display as link
8) Press OK
9) Press Apply
10) Press OKMy pictures should now be a short cut on the menu

AskWoody LoungerAugust 24, 2005 at 10:05 pm #968598Just a wild guess: click Start | Run…, type regedit and press Enter.
Locate HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer and see if there is a value named NoSMMyPictures in the right hand pane. If so, select and delete it.
Do the same for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer.If you did find and delete NoSMMyPictures, restart your PC; the menu item should return.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 11, 2005 at 8:31 pm #978371Well, it worked, but I was having to tweak the settings every few days because My Pictures would go away again and would not let me add it (see attached). So I went through and deleted all instances of NoSMMyPictures in the registry……but I think I screwed up. The link is now on the Start Menu, but when I try to sort the programs list, I do not get the menu when I right click. So I went back and imported by backup registry file, rebooted, but still unable to sort. Ok, can someone help this crazy woman?????!!

Hope this helps.
