I’m rebuilding a website for a small grade school, and I need to set up an event calendar, similar to the calendaring in Outlook: monthview, weekview and dayview. Traffic will be minimal, and there will be a limited number of events – maybe 100 or so a year. I suppose I could do this with plain text and hyperlinks, but I’d like to do a proper calendar.

What’s the best way to go about this?

I would guess that the ovehead in creating a single calendar that allows you to view by day or week or month would not be worth the overhead based on what you wish to publish.

Two thoughts – with Outlook showing a calendar view: File > Save As Web Page…
or have a look at Make A calendar.

Thanks, Leif. I’ve seen this done in Java, which I think Frontpage can handle, and I’ve seen it done in Perl and on some of those online wizard-driven hosting services.

I was hoping for some sort of magic chunk of java or an activex control that would make an event calendar feasible in Frontpage. Wishful thinking, I guess.

A Google search for “html calendar” should bring up quite a few suggestions but I fear the majority of good ones may expect some financial reward….

Thanks. I’ll give it a try.

I am also looking for a cleaner way to add an events calendar to a web page. It would be nice if it was easy for someone other than me to keep it updated without messing it up.

What solutions did you try and what did you settle on using?

Reply to this in a week or so. I am working on an ASP calendar, that is going to build itself from an Exchange public folder. Having it build from a .pst file would be just a slight change in the Session object. Hopefully in a week I’ll have had enough time to get to it! evilgrin
