Need help reinstalling Realtek please.

Hi all. My friend has just emailed me with a problem and I have told her that the best place to find an answer is here, so here goes.

Her system is Vista Home Premium, Toshiba,Intel(R) Pentium (R) CPU T2370,Memory 2.00GB, System type 32-bit Operating System and this is the message she sent me.

“I’ve been cleaning up the computer to get more disc place. Bought an external hard drive, defragmented and uninstalled programmes I dont need or thought I didn’t! Have uninstalled Realtek..oops..no drivers or whatever now. Do not have original disc or such like, restoring didn’t work. On line says it’ll cost me £29.99. Is this the route to go or do you know better.”

She calls herself a plonker! She has a backup on a disc but says it won’t let her install it.

Any ideas clever people?

Hi Sylviesinc,

If you friend does not have a driver CD that came with her Toshiba (Toshiba usually does include a driver installation CD), then have your friend go to Toshiba Driver Support for laptops, enter in the model number of her laptop, and obtain a listing of the drivers needed for her machine. She can download the Realtek drivers for her particular model from their driver listing. Then she can double click the executable and the Realtek drivers will be installed. This is the easiest way to obtain the correct driver.

The model number should be on a sticker near the touchpad, or at least on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

If its just a Realtek driver issue, just do a System Restore to a a date prior to losing it.
