On my Windows 11 laptop, I have been running the latest edition of paid-for Macrium Reflect backups and restores for ages with no hiccups.

This morning, when trying to do my usual backups, I got the error message that “None of the specified backup locations could be written to.”

How do I resolve that error?

    Thank you,

Look in File Explorer (on the PC to be backed up). Can you see each each of the target locations? Do the drive letters assigned to the target locations match the drive letters in your backup Definition Files?

        PK,

Thank you.  The second question you asked turned out to be key. I don’t know how the assigned letters got switched, nor do I need to know that.

With your help, and the editing to my definitions, my backups are now running as they have been.

It’s such a relief when backups and restores can be counted on.

      southineguy,

As I’ve recommended here before look into using the free USBDLM. The program will allow you to assign drive letters based on a drives Volume Serial Number. This will insure that you always have the correct drive letter to match your backup definitions.

Here’s my .ini file as an example, look at all the drives assigned to drive I: (for Image). It also forces unknown drives to be X-Z.
