• Need to roll back to IE 10

My HP laptop updated to IE11. I have tried to uninstall it and when I do, I have no Internet Explorer.
I use a program to access Freightliner Parts Pro 6 It is not compatible with IE11 and will not work.
When I check installed updates, IE 11 is there but IE10 is not.
Freightliner support cannot help me with the problem.
Not sure what to do next.

      http://support.microsoft.com/solutions/internet-explorer/internet-explorer-10/install-upgrade-activate/downloading-my-software

This page should lead to this page for the download, can’t test as MS not fond of Linux.
I would download first, before uninstalling. If the links leads to a stub (over the internet install) you may have to find an alternative.

Best to use your restore points to prior the update as I don’t think IE 10 as a download is available any more.

When you get your IE 10 back go Tools cog and click on About Internet Explorer and uncheck the box for the auto update, then go into Windows Update and hide the one for IE 11 by right clicking on it and selecting Hide.

Set your Windows Updates to Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them – and when you get the next notification, click on where it tells you how many there are and you can uncheck if it’s offering you the one for IE 11 again.

Thanks all. Have tried all this. I uninstalled IE 11 and the had no Internet Explorer at all. Had to do system restore to get it back.
Wavy, your link will not work for me but thanks.
I really find it hard to believe Freightliner would release this update and not make it combatable with the latest IE.
None of their programs will work in any other browser. Has to be IE.

After uninstalling, did you go to Programs and Features and click on Turn Windows Features on or off? It might be in there or at least I.E.9 may be there and you can turn it back on, and then go through the update/kill/hide procedures described.

Update see my post below first!

I am fairly surprised that I find links for older versions but 10 seems to be hidden; the following link MAY give you the option to install 10. The executable is in the package. If no one has another option that works you may want to explore it. I tend to distrust 3rd party downloads but they are there.

The following is a link to 9 if you wish to pursue that option.

When you do succeed, if you have autoupdate on you will want to hide the 11 update.

Sometimes IE 11 in Compatibility Mode will work for some programs, but you’re probably best off sticking with IE 10 – it still receives security updates from MS so don’t know why they’ve seemed to have pulled the download.

Did Freightliner say if they are likely to be upgrading their program to accommodate IE 11 ?

It seems strange that you lost IE altogether when you uninstalled IE 11 unless that is because IE 10 is no longer available ?

Thanks all. It worked. Had to download through Firefox because IE would get stuck on running security scan. Freightliner is famous for software conflicts. None of their online stuff works in any other browser except IE. They released their update months after IE11 came out. When I called support, they told me I would have to call Microsoft for help with this problem.
Thanks to all the great people on this forum, I got it solved.
        Thanks again to everyone

Easy way to fix the problem would be to backup you data, re-install the backup image from before the install of IE11, then reload your data, and you are back to where you were. I would go to the Windows Update page and turn off automatic install of updates. Then when the update for IE11 appears uncheck it and right click and hide the IE11 update so it will not ask again.
You are doing regular image backups and keeping several past image backup copies just in case something goes wrong, right?
