.NET 4 Updates: Microsoft Update Re-Installs Successful Updates

The recent updates for Win7 (I have Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 installed and all patches installed) were for .NET 4. I duly downloaded and installed the updates which the system reported as successfully installed. But the same updates are still being offered and I actually accepted one such re-installation. My system in fact now shows the same updates successfuly installed twice.

How do I stop the same .NET 4 updates being offered again and again?

Common problem usually caused by a faulty .net install. I would uninstall all versions of .net and then reinstall .net 4 from here:
