At home, we’ve been using AppleTalk to network, but now we’ve got several PC’s running Windows 2K. The PCs use airport and Orinoco to connect to the internet. That part works fine.

The problem is that the printer is on Appletalk, and the PCs don’t seem to recognize that intranet. I can’t set up the PCs to print. So, what do I need to do to set up the PCs to find and recognize the printer?

    Any help will be appreciated.

According to MS, it is possible to add AppleTalk to the network protocols for your Windows PCs: How to Configure Windows 2000 to Print to an AppleTalk Print Device . Hope this helps.

I followed the on the link you provided. Didn’t work. AppleTalk was there, but couldn’t get printer to work. I had to download and install an AppleLaser Writer Utility for Windows first. Then everything was fine.

We also bought some software for $150 which hasn’t arrived yet, so I guess we can save some money.

We now have several PCs running various versions of Windows with wireless cards and several Macs all merrily printing to the same place.

        Cheers

Under NT or 2k, you just need to add the File and Print Services for Macintosh
