“Official statement: the new EU chat controls proposal for mass scanning is the same old surveillance with new branding.

Whether you call it a backdoor, a front door, or โ€œupload moderationโ€ it undermines encryption & creates significant vulnerabilities”

    * All cloud storage companies scan for CSAM materials.
Apple scans and notify minors about incoming / outgoing improper messages/photos with an option to notify parents.

Some people are just too stupid to live in a free society.
Those same folks never seem to tire in their endeavor to destroy the rights and freedoms of others.

When your child has been targeted by porn blackmailers I suspect you will reconsider just how much freedom people should have.
Getting the balance right is very difficult, but not trying is NOT an option.

The most effective way to protect children remains constant: GOOD parents who are integrally involved in their children’s lives.

Eliminating privacy by breaking cryptography is not a solution to anything — except moving one step closer to having government mandated cameras & microphones in every room in your home.

If you’re not in favor of freedom, you’re against it.

What copyright ? X is a free speech to all site. There are no copyrights.

From X’s Terms of Service (note the highlighted section).

You must abide by the Servicesโ€™ acceptable use terms: You may not access the Services in any way other than through the currently available, published interfaces that we provide. For example, this means that you cannot scrape the Services without Xโ€™s express written permission, try to work around any technical limitations we impose, or otherwise attempt to disrupt the operation of the Services.

Your original post where you scraped the contents of the Signal CEO’s X post and posted it here on AskWoody obviously violates that ToS.

I am in favour of being able to go about my business unhindered by people who might do me harm. This is why we have police and jails.
Denying some freedoms is a requirement for a functioning society.

      cheers, Paul
