    There were not buttons on the taskbar after booting up. Rebooted, no help. The only KB article I can find (Q139727) says to uninstall software that I don’t use. Any help appreciated.

      Have you installed any new software lately, or made any changes to software that you routinely use?

      Its rare that something like this would happen on its own – not that gremlins don’t exist aflame

      Right-click, Toolbars, select a bar??

        Nothing was installed, but the person using this computer did receive and open one of those fake e-greetings that are going around. I found that the taskbar worked in safe mode, so I restored the registry from yesterday and that resolved it. Thanks you both for your input.
