I keep getting the following message whenever I attempt to email from the internet:

“There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs Control Panel.”

I use sbc-yahoo dsl as my primary email service. That works fine. But when I visit a website and attempt to send an email to the site, I get this message. So, if one is present, I have to manually cut and paste the email address, enter it in my sbc-yahoo email, and send it. I never had – or never noticed – this problem until I upgraded to Windows 7. No one seems to know how to correct the problems. I’ve looked at Default Programs and don’t see anything wrong, although doubt if I’d know it if I saw it. Can you help with this?

Not strictly true. I have a http://www.mail.com account and that has this option….

“Firefox and Flock Add-on Use Webmail as your email client when browsing web pages”

I have no idea what the default is for this. I changed nothing. In XP and Vista, it was never a problem. Then, I switch to 7 and it’s a problem. Guess I need to drop it off at a local repair shop to figure it out.

As far as I know Windows does not have an Email program. It wants you to use MSN or a newer service that has way more options than I wish. I finally downloaded Zimbra, one of several that one can locate with a Google search. It fills the vaccuum but takes some getting used to.
If you have Office, it comes with Outlook which is excellent in my opinion.

Thanks. I’m an old dog among all these new tricks. Like things that don’t change as they lose me.

There’s also Windows Live Mail, which is a download that can be gotten from http://download.live.com/wlmail. You need some sort of desktop client to send from and Windows 7 doesn’t come with one by default. You can still use your account through the desktop client though if its a Yahoo email account it costs $20 a year (since I checked last) for a premium account with client-forwarding enabled. Other accounts like hotmail and gmail can be used for free.

      Thanks, I’ll look into that.
