I get the above message when I try to add a new format. Any way round it?

      Cormac,

As far as I know there is a limit, but that limit is more dependant on the complexity of the number formats, than the actual number used. It seems you might have reached the limit. You can delete any exisisting custom formats that you no longer need. Format, Cells, Number and select Custom. Go to the first format that enables the delete button, and go through all the formats from there, deleting the ones you no longer need.

      Hi Cormac,

Contained within this link article: http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/eee/eee007.txt is some code which can be used to removed unwanted/unused Custom Number Formats. The code does not represenet a complete solution to the management of formats… but could point you in the right direction.
