Number Format for Form Field (Word 2003)

We have created an invoice template with form fields. We set the number format for one of the fields to be currency and then protect and save the .dot. When we start an new .doc based on the invoice template, any number typed into that field is a plain number and not in the currency format. What are we doing wrong? Thank you for your time.

What happens if you unprotect a document in which the form field displays a plain number, and double click the form field? What format does it have?

When I double-click on the field in an unprotected sheet, I show the form field is formatted as currency ($#,##0.00;($#,##0.00)) but the number displays as a number only and no dollar sign.

I cannot reproduce the problem. Could you attach a stripped down copy of the document? Remove all sensitive information from it.

Currency format has been set for only some of the form text boxes. You will have to set it for each form text box individually (or set up one the way you want, then copy/paste).

The form text boxes that are set to currency format work OK for me, as far as I can tell. If it’s different for you, please indicate exactly which one(s).

Once in a while I experienced similar problems with FormField formats. I think it’s some form of corruption. The solution that always works for me is to remove that FormField, add a fresh one and set the correct name and settings again.
